Mental Illness/Art Therapy Exhibition
For this exhibition, the entire class and I presented on different Mental Illnesses and different
types of Art Therapy for the certain mental illness that they had.
***
The Mental Illness that I researched was Factitious Disorder, which is when a person with a motive deceives others by pretending to be sick or ill, exaggerating symptoms, or even purposely injuring themselves. Through research and discussion with others, I found that the best type of art therapy would be to create a Vision Board. With this type of art, the person is able to visualize what they want out of life, how they want to feel, and what their goals are. What this can do is help someone with Factitious Disorder to reevaluate their actions and see if it is really helping them to pursue their life goals or how they ultimately want to feel.
Here you are be able to see the Vision Board that I created to present at my booth on Exhibition Day.
