Career Day
For my Career Day I was lucky enough to go to Scripps Primary Care and interview a Nurse practitioner and see her speak with a patient. In the interview I found a lot about the differences between Physician's Assistants and Nurse Practitioners. The main difference between them is their way of schooling and education. Nurse Practitioners are able to choose a certain specialty in which they want to work, while Physician's assistants have to learn a bit of everything. PAs have to expand their knowledge farther then Nurse Practitioners. The Nurse Practitioner I interviewed was able to give me a tour as well of the Primary Care facility. During the time she and the patient were talking, the patient was listing symptoms that she had had for the past week or so, and the Nurse Practitioner was typing them all up on the computer, in the end they scheduled a medical procedure for her so that they could figure out what was wrong with her. The experience was very interesting and now I am really considering a position in the medical field for a possible future job.
